Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We have had issues with vermin at The Joseph Morton and as a result have closed the pub.

“Pest control experts have been to the pub in order to deal with the situation.

“Our aim is to open the pub this Wednesday (March 15), though there are no guarantees that the situation will be resolved by then in order for the pub to reopen. We apologise to the pub’s customers.”

The spokesman said that all evacuated customers received a refund, and added: “They were all understanding of the situation and there were no issues.”

Meanwhile, an East Lindsey District Council spokesman said that their Environmental Health team ‘will now make arrangements’ to contact the management to visit the premises.
