King Edward VI Grammar School CCF unit kayaking exercise at Covenham Reservoir

KING Edward VI Grammar School CCF unit took part in a kayaking exercise.

Cadets carried out the exercise on the canal near Covenham Reservoir and on the reservoir itself.

Twenty cadets took part, all successfully completing their PaddlePower Start Certificate.

The exercise taught basic escape drills and then concentrated on teaching cadets to paddle, moving their canoes sideways, backwards and forwards under their own paddlepower.

Cadets had a strenuous time learning their basic skills, but all enjoyed it, with the favourite comment being: “It’s not as easy as you think”.
