Party night at pub tells me ‘new’ Swanne will fly

EDITOR – The Olde Whyte Swanne in Louth had a private party to which the Louth and District branch of CAMRA were invited to attend.

More store traffic will increase danger

EDITOR – Re Sainsbury’s latest plan for Newmarket site.

The right priority?

EDITOR – What were the objectives (and cost/benefits) of replacing the recently-installed car park ticket machines and notices?

The right balance?

EDITOR – I read with some amusement and horror Iris Dainton’s letter published in the Louth Leader of April 12.

There are ways to cover extra costs

EDITOR – RE: New ‘stealth tax’ levies could hit region’s pubs (Leader – April 18) – so Michael Kheng thinks council tax-payers should pay to keep him in the style he has become accustomed?

Petition thanks

Following the April 18 front page (Traders back market call) I would like to thank the hundreds of people that have signed the petition.

Change a success

EDITOR – I strongly believe that the market should stay sited in the High Street and on a Thursday, since the change of venue over the past few weeks the market has been very successful.

£1,265 for fund

EDITOR – May we thank everyone who attended the Emma-Jayne Memorial Fund charity evening at Sutton Social Club on Saturday, April 21.

Pick up the mess!

EDITOR – In reply to a letter regarding horse poo on the beach.

A more practical use for proposed site

EDITOR – Re: New Sainsbury’s plan for Newmarket.

Garages used the wrong tactics

EDITOR – During the recent rush to buy fuel ahead of a tanker drivers’ strike, I was amused to see the lack of intelligence of some of the local petrol stations.

Market is good, but closing the High Street is bad news for shop owners

EDITOR – I don’t think it makes any difference if the market is on a Thursday or moved to a Tuesday.

Remember, we’re all in this together

EDITOR – It was great to see the market in its new location and all the feedback has been positive from everyone alike – stallholders and residents of our town.

Hit the highways to support runners

EDITOR – This is a question to all: we are soon to be having the Olympic Torch run through most of our villages; is there to be any following by our local councils etc to have these stretches of roads full of people cheering the runners on?

A permit for dog owners?

EDITOR – Re: ‘Cleaning up may be difficult but it’s your responsibility’ (Leader – April 4). Should dog owners have a permit too then?

You can ride on the beach

In reply to the letters from R Cartwright and G Day (April 18): I’ve owned horses and been riding all my life, you do not need a permit to ride on the Sutton to Mablethorpe beach.

What a good idea of council

EDITOR – I wholeheartedly agree with the move of the market to the centre of town.

Machines make it a pain to park

EDITOR – The new car park ticket machines...

Short-changed by meters

EDITOR – I write to you with reference to the new pay meters installed in Louth car parks.

Re-think hourly bus service

EDITOR – I would like to say that the buses going to hourly is disgusting.

I grew veg despite drought

EDITOR – During the 24 years I’ve lived in North Somercotes I’ve never once used a hosepipe to water my large garden where I grow lots of fruit and vegetables.

Market move may end in ‘disaster’

EDITOR – Further to your story regarding the relocation of the Mablethorpe market I can say that not everyone supports the move.

Exercise horse elsewhere

EDITOR – After reading the letter from Leanne Maginnis (March 28), I can only express disbelief at her selfish attitude.

Attitude shows no regard for public

EDITOR – Referring to the letter from Leanne Maginnis (March 28) regarding horse dung on the prom and beach at Sutton and Sandilands.

These are good people

EDITOR – The recent issues published in the newspaper letters describing the social housing people as ‘scum’ has bemused me somewhat.

Customers are such a nuisance

EDITOR – I noticed your article on the possible closure of the Royal Mail delivery office in Mablethorpe (Stamped out – April 4).

Kind who divide

EDITOR – I fully agree with the comments of J Lucas, (Leader – April 4) of the disgust being felt at a certain resident depicting people living in social housing as ‘scum’.
