Lincolnshire homes left without water due to burst water main

Hundreds of homes in the rural area around Market Rasen, Horncastle and Louth have been left with little or no water due to a burst water main, according to Anglian Water this morning (Monday).

The affected villages include Binbrook, North Willingham, Burgh on Bain, Donington on Bain, Stenigot, Goulceby, Great Sturton, Panton, Sotby, East Barkwith, Benniworth, Sixhills and Hemingby. Villages surrounding these areas have also been affected.

It has been reported that some areas have suffered low water pressure or no water at all since yesterday morning (Sunday), and some homes in the worst affected areas have reportedly received hand-delivered bottles of water from Anglian Water.

A ‘complex repair’ is currently ongoing, and work is expected to be completed by midday today.

Anglian Water confirmed that a burst water main had been identified as the cause of the problem.
