Following a recent incident in the county, police are maiking people aware that fraudsters may target mail boxes that are located at the end of driveways to access post inside.
A fraudster applies for credit cards that are then posted to a person’s address.
They then force open the mail box to gain access to the credit cards when they are delivered.
Normally the member of the public will not know ‘they’ have applied for the card until the fraudster starts using the cards for purchases and the invoices arrive.
If you suffer any damage to an external mail box, please ensure that you report it so police so they can monitor cases across the county.
