Local groups get new council grant

LOCAL community groups have been given a boost thanks to grant funding from East Lindsey District Council.

This has been the first round of its 2011/12 community grant scheme.

The highest grant of £9,262 was awarded to Alford Craft Market and Arts Festival.

This is to enable an increased range of quality activities to be offered at the festival, to increase visitor numbers and improve sustainability over three years.

Another high grant of £8,000 was given to Binbrook Village Hall to build a youth drop in shelter.

Other grants were also awarded to Louth Storm’s newly formed ladies basketball team, to the Lincolnshire Dialect Society and St Mary’s Church in Manby.

With round one of applications now complete, the District Council is inviting applications for round two.

Applications need to be handed into the Council by 5pm on September 5.
