£250k boost for coast
Coastal businesses can share in a £250,000 boost to improve their digital technology thanks to the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Lincolnshire County Council.
It is hoped the money will help open up new opportunities to businesses in the industrial, retail and hospitality sectors along the coast which currently suffer from poor broadband connectivity and little access to digital services.
A number of small retail refurbishment grants will also be available as well as training workshops on using new equipment.
Doreen Stephenson, Coastal Champion for the LEP, said: “This is wonderful news for businesses along the coast and an opportunity that must be seized.
“This, coupled with the countywide broadband improvement project, will hopefully enable businesses on the coast to grow and develop, and support the creation of more jobs locally.”
Once the pilot areas are identified, businesses in those areas will be able to bid for a share of the money from April 2013 until March 2015.
The Coastal Communities Fund is designed to support development of coastal communities by promoting economic growth and jobs so people are able to respond to the changing economic needs and opportunities of the area.
