A-LEVEL RESULTS: Monks' Dyke Tennyson College celebrates '˜fantastic' results

Monks' Dyke Tennyson College in Louth has celebrated an impressive haul of A-Level results today (Thursday), with 73 per cent of all grades being A*-C and an overall pass rate of 95 per cent.

Head of School, Stephen Cumberworth, said that the school was “tremendously proud” of the students’ achievements, adding that almost all students secured a place at their first choice university.

Mr Cumberworth said: “[The students] have produced a fantastic set of results which surpass even the highly commendable results attained last year, and provides our students with access to the next learning or employment pathway of their choice.

“Forty per cent of the grades achieved are at A* or A standard, with 47 per cent being a B or better, and 73 per cent being at least at grade C.

“Overall the school is enjoying a 95 per cent pass rate, with many subject areas achieving 100 per cent.

“Maths, Media, Photography, Sport and Art deserve a special mention with some really outstanding results being achieved, and in IT and DCE (Diploma in Childcare and Education) all students achieved Grade A or A*.

“Although a great many students achieved highly coveted grades and made tremendous progress, particular mention should be made of Poppy Torrington with her three A-Level As or A* and one grade C, going onto study Business Management at Edinburgh University, Abbie Davies with her Distinction-stars in Sports going to Sheffield Hallam University, and Matthew Lincoln who achieved fantastic grades which have gained him a place at Coventry University to study Automotive Design.

“These results are testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff and at Monks’ Dyke. We are looking forward to building on these great results and continuing to provide outstanding opportunities for our students into the future.”

Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Carol Woosey, told the Leader: “I am very proud of my sixth formers.

“We’ve had lots of parents crying in the car park - for good reasons!”
