A16 at North Thoresby closed for several hours after two-car crash

THE A16 at North Thoresby, near Louth, was closed for several hours on Sunday night after a serious crash left two drivers in hospital with injuries.

Lincolnshire Police say they were alerted to the smash at 6.32pm on Sunday, with reports that one of the vehicles was on fire.

It transpired that a silver Toyota Celica had collided with a Mercedes-Benz van on the main road which links Louth to Grimsby.

The drivers from both vehicles were removed by the emergency services and both remain in critical but stable conditions in hospital.

Police say the van driver is a 41-year-old male from Marshchapel and the car driver a 31-year-old man from Grimsby.

The road was finally reopened at 1.10am, over six hours after the crash.

More updates will follow as we get them.
