Are you ready to dive in the sea and save a life?

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is on the hunt for the next generation of lifeguards to save lives in the East Lindsey area.

The charity’s national lifeguard recruitment campaign, is in partnership with East Lindsey District Council.

They will again be providing lifeguard cover on the Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea beaches during the summer months.

Lifeguard Manager Vince Park said: “This is a great opportunity for people to secure exciting and rewarding employment for the summer.

“We have a good number of lifeguards returning. But we are also seeking more recruits to join our world-class lifesaving service.”

In order to be eligible to apply, all applicants need to be 16 or over and hold a valid surf lifesaving qualification.

If you feel you are up to the challenge and possess the qualities the RNLI are looking for, but don’t have your lifesaving qualification, a course will run in Skegness from April 8-13 and costs £230 for the course and assessment.

Vince also said: “Being a beach lifeguard is physically demanding and requires commitment, but the level of training and support the RNLI provides will leave you with invaluable skills for life.

“As entrance to the course is dependent on a swimming test, we’re keen to hear from people as soon as possible so we can support them in reaching the required fitness levels before applying.”

A key part of a lifeguard’s job is to spot danger before it develops and 95 per cent of the role is preventative.

Coun Adam Grist, portfolio holder for culture and tourism added: “Our coast welcomes millions of visitors each year and the RNLI do an amazing job watching over our beaches to help ensure people are safe.

“This is a great opportunity to work in a rewarding job, ensuring the safety of hundreds and saving lives in Lincolnshire.”
