Mary Hoban presiding welcomed East Barkwith Women’s Institute members and guest speaker for the evening Nick Louth, a foreign correspondent who related some of his experiences to his audience including details of the more hair raising situations he had got into.
He has now recorded some of his exploits in a recently published book which he brought along to help illustrate his talk and there was an opportunity for members to make purchases after the meeting closed.
He was thanked for sharing his interesting adventures by the secretary Kate Wright.
A birthday posy was presented to Sue Johnson and members were reminded that it was time to renew subscriptions for the year at the increased rate.
Names were taken of those who wished to accept the invitation to Wragby Women’s Institutes 70th birthday celebration with a meal and entertainment on the programme notice was given of the County Executive Spring Council Meeting at the Embassy Centre, Skegness when the keynote speaker is to be Phil Hammond of Trust Me, I’m a Doctor.
The competition was won by Mary Hoban with an old map and a magnifying glass.
