Birkbeck College students stage We Will Rock You
Birkbeck College in North Somercotes staged a production of the West End show We Will Rock You, telling the tale of two love struck teenagers and their fight against musical oppression, and they created the feel of an authentic rock concert.
Cast, band, choir, staging/backstage crew and staff joined together to create a superb show, filled with spectacular talent.
Memorable dance sequences were choreographed by former student and previous leading lady Sophie Browne assisted by Jordan Malin.
Principal cast members included Birkbeck’s musical sensation Oliver Chapman as Galileo and sweet voiced Leanne Roberts as Scaramouche, Georgia Harris as Killer Queen, Danny Taylor as Britney, Jess Vowles as Meat and Kate Mellett as Pop who all acted and sang with clarity and conviction. Sam Stark as Khashoggi brought the house down.

We will Rock You was directed by Diana Dykes, Assistant Headteacher, and produced by Wendy Lane.
