A fundraising craze that is sweeping social media has captured the imagination of staff at the Brackenborough Hotel - with hilarious results.
The “no make-up selfie” challenge has spread like wildfire across Facebook and Twitter over the past few weeks.
The challenge involves women posting a photograph of themselves wearing no make up, whilst making a £3 donation towards Cancer Research UK.
The campaign has been incredibly successful so far, with over £2million raised for the charity. At one point, the charity received 800,000 donations in just 24 hours.
On Sunday March 23, Brackenborough staff decided that if £200 was raised across both there and at their sister hotel (The Ashbourne in North Killingholme) during the Sunday lunch service, then not only would the girls go without make up, but all of the male staff would also put on make up.
Once a total sum of £200 was achieved through generous donations from amused customers, the staff - including hotel owner Ashley Lidgard - were duty bound to honour their part of the bargain.
Mr Lidgard said “I’m so proud of my entire team for agreeing to do this.
“Cancer Research UK is such a worthy cause, with the illness having unfortunately touched most of our lives directly or indirectly, so we were more than happy to be able to help in some way while it’s high in people’s minds ”.
