A DARING local businessman raised £672 for the Mablethorpe Lifeboat Station after kayaking from Skegness to Mablethorpe.

Robert Baldwin, owner of the Snack Shack in Mablethorpe, completed the gruelling journey back in November but has recently handed over the cheque to the lifeboat crew.

He completed the journey in around three-and-a-half hours but it wasn’t without its hitches.

“The going was very good until I got just past Huttoft where the fog rolled in and I had to use my compass to find my way back near the shoreline,” said Robert.

“When I got to Mablethorpe I didn’t even know I was there until I heard my parents shouting on the beach worried that I had got lost at sea,” he added.

Station manager Dale Chapman gratefully received the donation on behalf of the lifeboat crew.
