Charity’s annual meeting
The Parkinson’s UK Louth & District Branch held their AGM. The President, Coun Gus Robertson, welcomed Margaret Faulkner, Information and Support Worker and the Influence and Service Development Officer for Parkinson’s Regional Team, East Midlands, Chris Sweeney as well as members and friends of the branch.
All the branch officers and committee members were re-elected for another term of office.
It was heard the branch goes from strength to strength as there are so many activities for people to choose from.
These include fortnightly exercise classes, ten pin bowling, luncheon club, branch meetings and the new drama group which is proving to be a popular addition.
There were three presentations, the first of which was a bouquet for Lesley Swift for all her hard work throughout the year, the second was a bouquet and engraved crystal goblet presented to Marjorie Barnes for all her efforts over many years
The third presentation was to Mike Swift for all the work he has done over the long period of time he was Chairman of the branch and he too received an engraved crystal goblet but this time with a bottle of wine.
However, it seems we can’t keep a good man down because he has taken on the role of Vice Chairman.
A great amount of help is given to the members by Pat and Terry Stacey.
After refreshments were served Valerie Jones read a poem followed by the Parkinson’s Players reading their play Parkinson’s Law written by Frank Reynolds with additional material supplied by Moya Rooke.
Apart from the next branch meeting there will be a fundraising afternoon on April 17 at Fulstow Village Hall in aid of Parkinson’s UK. There will be a lunch and once again entertainment provided by the Parkinson’s Players and all for the princely sum of £9.50. Tickets available from June on 01507 363545
