Children from Chernobyl enjoy seaside fare on trip to Mablethorpe
Town Crier Roy Palmer, Mayor Joyce Taylor were amongst the local dignitaries who met the 'children of Chernobyl' to Mablethorpe, organised by the local Lions group.
EIGHTEEN children from Chernobyl visited Mablethorpe last week as part of an annual visit to the resort.
It was part of the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline, who bring over parties to the UK each year for a month’s respite holiday.
For the third year running a group visited Mablethorpe and enjoyed the best of what the traditional seaside trip has to offer thanks to the support of a number of local businesses.
They were met by town crier Roy Palmer, who welcomed the party via an interpreter.
Also present to meet them were Mablethorpe Mayor Joyce Taylor and Mayoress Anne-Marie Gregory.
Again the day was hosted by Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea Lions, and secretary Graham Wright said: “The Lions would like to extend praise to the people and businesses of Mablethorpe, and everyone who contributed, without which which none of this would have been possible.”
