Clarinettist Brian Carrick says the Louth New Orleans Jazz Club is best jazz club in UK

WORLD famous New Orleans style clarinettist Brian Carrick has become Honorary President of the Louth New Orleans Jazz Club.

When presented by Club Secretary Rosemary Fisher with a certificate to mark his appointment, Brian said: “No one has ever asked me to do anything like this before. It really is great honour.

“There is no other place like this. It’s the best jazz club in the UK!”

He is already an honorary citizen of the city of New Orleans, awarded in 1975 in appreciation of his love of the city and his contribution to its music.

Brian, a great friend of John Paddon of the South Wold Jazz Band which play at the club in Queen Street and a guest player with the band on many occasions then held the full house spellbound as he went straight into Burgundy Street Blues, the renowned 1944 George Lewis Bill Russell improvisation.

Always keen to support local business, half time refreshments were slices of Traditional Lincolnshire Plum Bread bought from the Louth shops of A W Curtis & Sons and Pocklington’s Bakery.
