Coastguard cover to change for the coast
Night time coastguard cover for Lincolnshire’s coast will be provided by Humber crews from March 4.
As part of a shake-up, the Great Yarmouth station in Norfolk will only provide daytime operations.
Responsibility for the coast from Yorkshire to Suffolk will therefore be covered by the Humber crew.
The move is included in a controversial ongoing nationwide revamp of coastguard cover.
Normally, Great Yarmouth has a total of 25 staff but leading up to its closure this has been reduced to 16.
Eventually the Humber coastguard will be the only station between Aberdeen and Dover, covering almost 600 miles of coastline including Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea.
