District Council discusses plans with Louth’s market traders

EAST Lindsey District Council has been discussing the changes to the town’s market with traders, giving them feedback and reassurance from their previous meeting.

As recently reported, the district council is planning a sea of change for the markets after plans were unveiled in February for the stalls to receive a makeover.

The plans are due to be implemented in June, but at the last meeting traders felt ‘sceptical’ about the proposed plans.

Portfolio Holder for the Economy, Coun Craig Leyland, said: “We were pleased to be able to present our revised proposals for the markets, taking into account the thoughts of the traders when we met with them previously.

“We will continue to talk to the traders as we move forward with our market programme.”

See next week’s Leader for the traders’ view on the district council’s latest feedback meeting and the revised proposals in detail.
