Tetney’s Ella Henderson has been dramatically voted out of the X Factor despite being labelled as favourite to win the show outright.
In heartbreaking scenes on Sunday night Ella was left in the final two with James Arthur on the ITV talent show, and judges left it tied at two votes each.
When the voting went to deadlock, the public vote, Ella had less votes than James Arthur.
There have been fears in recent weeks that Ella’s votes had dried up, possibly owing to fans believing she was safe such was her high standing in the show.
Her performance of Daniel Bedingfield’s If You’re Not The One was labelled as ‘perfect’ by judges.
Bookmakers had Ella as favourite to win from the outright, with judge Louis Walsh twice telling her she was the best singer ‘since Leona Lewis’.
She told the show she’d loved every minute of her journey.
But local girl Ella, 16, saw her dream of winning the show die on Sunday night, and will now likely look to launch a solo career.
Ella’s Dad, Sean Henderson, told the Leader this morning how proud the Henderson family were of Ella.
“The whole family are so proud of her, we think she has done amazing to get so far,” he said.
“We believe she is our winner and now her career starts!”
