Tetney singer Ella Henderson has joined the music elite after signing her first record deal, with global giants Sony.

The 16-year-old shot to fame on ITV’s The X Factor in the second half of 2012, but, after being installed as favourite from the outset, was controversially voted out of the show on week seven.

But Ella has, as expected, been signed up by Sony and joins their record label with such luminaries as Alicia Keys, Kesha and Rita Ora.

Ella announced the news at the weekend and the hashtag #EllaSignedToSONY trended number one worldwide on social networking site Twitter.
