EMMERDALE actor Patrick Mower proudly opened the new Wolds Care Centre in Louth on Monday, a new facility promising to offer ‘the very best’ in personalised care.

Patrick, who lives locally at Little Carlton, was delighted to cut the ribbon on the new 64-room facility in North Holme Road, a striking new building on the main gateway into the town.

Also in attendance was Lacey Gardens School pupil Lilly Regler, the youngster who actually named the centre and its four units, as part of a competition held by the school.

The Wolds Care Centre, owned by Blue Brick Healthcare will be dedicated to the care of older people who are ‘physically frail, require nursing care, or who have dementia’.

At the opening, Patrick told the Leader how impressive the care centre was.

He said: “I’m very proud to open this fantastic facility. Louth is very lucky to have something like this of such a high standard.

“It’s a sad time when your relatives need to move into such a place, but it’s somewhere that you know they will be in good hands.

“Somebody said to me it’s more like a hotel with its cinema, coffee shop and hairdressers!

“Louth is a lovely country market town but buildings like this mean it is well into the 21st century.”

Lilly, 10, gave her stamp of approval to the new centre. “It looks really nice, it’s the best care centre I’ve seen,” she said.

“I thought the name had a ring to it, and I was really excited when I won as I got a Nintendo 3DS too!”

Blue Brick CEO Les Chaplin added: “It’s our first centre and we’re building another three more, we’re ahead of the curve.”
