Festival of Apples in Louth

SOMERCOTES Group of WIs is organising a Festival of Apples, a celebration of all things apple, on Sunday October 14 from 11am to 4pm at The British Legion Hall in Louth, admission free.

Apple expert, Trevor Rogers, will be on hand to identify apples and there will be a display of many apple varieties.

Bee Keepers, apple growers, Skidbrooke cyder makers and more will be there and the WI will be serving tea, apple pie and cakes of course!

Young artists and writers from local schools have entered competitions to win an apple tree for their school. There will be baking and preserve competitions for adults, both WI members and open classes.

Transition Town Louth will also be there discussing the role of pollinators on the apple harvest.

If you would like to identify an apple growing in your garden take along three apples and some leaves, you never know, you may be growing one of Lincolnshire’s lost apples.
