Flood alert for Lincolshire’s Coastline from Tetney Haven to Gibraltar Point

A Flood alert for high tidal levels across Lincolnshire’s coastline for this evening has recently come through via the Enivronment Agency.

The area affected by the flood alert spreads from Tetney Haven to Gibraltar Point.

The latest information states: ‘A low pressure system is resulting in high tidal levels on the Lincolnshire coastline on Thursday evening.

‘The high tides combined with force seven Northerly winds may result in wind-blown spray and wave splash causing localised pooling of water behind the sea defences.

‘The time and date of the forecast high water is 10.18pm 22:18 on Thursday, October 10, 2013.’

There have also been confirmed high tides in Mablethorpe and Theddlethorpe.

There has been sweeping strong winds and high tides all day with many of the locals steering clear of the sea front due to the difficult conditions.

Locals are encouraged to sign up for free flood warnings from the Environment Agency’s Floodline Warnings Direct by calling 0845 988 1188 and to make a personal flood plan at www.lincolnshireprepared.co.uk.
