Flood special with your Leader
Don’t forget to look out for next week’s Mablethorpe Leader for a flooding special to mark the 60th
anniversary of the 1953 East Coast Floods.
The official anniversary falls on Thursday, January 31 to remember the locals who sadly lost their lives.
A number of special projects and events will be taking place in both Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea, during the course of the anniversary.
We have decided that your Mablethorpe Leader should print a special flood feature as a reminder of the lives that were lost and how far flooding defences have come since the dreadful incident occurred.
The special spread will include the history of the floods, pictures, and memories from the survivors.
We were overwhelmed by the amount of support from local residents who have either moved away or still live locally to come forward and share their flood pictures and memories with us here at the Leader, so thank you so much for your input.
We will try to get as many of your memories and pictures in as possible.
The following week, will also include a round up of local events that marked the anniversary.
