Parts of Louth suffered flooding this evening (Monday June 9) following a heavy rainstorm earlier in the day.

In Eastfield Road, a faulty manhole cover erupted, spewing out sewage and rainwater. Sandbags were used to protect one property from approaching sewage, while human waste was seen strewn across the road and pavement. Local residents fear that the contaminated water will drain into the nearby River Lud and Louth Canal.
