Food garden growing well

LOUTH’S green-fingered master gardeners have been busy at the Gatherums installing three raised beds which will be filled with fruit and seasonal veg.

The master gardeners, who are volunteers, are part of The Transition Town Louth Food Garden Group.

The project is funded by partners Lincolnshire Health and Wellbeing Fund and East Lindsey District Council’s Seed 2 Plate campaign.

The vision of this project is to set up food gardens where local people can see how easy it is to grow fruit and veg and then inspire others to do the same.

The group has seen previous success with the set up of a herb garden at the Gatherums and now the work continues with these new raised beds which are all locally made.

Louth Food Garden Group member James Pocklington said: “We are very grateful to the funding from our partners. We have plans to create a network of small veg growing areas around the footpaths of Louth.”

If you would like to get involved with the community gardens, please contact James at: jpocklington@fastmail.fm .
