THERE are four especially loveable new residents at the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary and Wildlife Centre.

Duchess, the meerkat named by a Leader reader in our competition in May, gave birth to four pups on Monday, June 4.

The centre’s owner Dennis Drew said all four are healthy and are ‘doing well’.

Billy, one of the two male meerkats at the centre, is the father of the litter.

Dennis added: “Normally the litter is only two or three so four is quite unusual, but not unheard of.

“The four pups are perfect.”

The pups will naturally leave the underground burrow at around three weeks old, and when they emerge the rest of the meerkats will gather round to watch.
