The Barkwith and District Gardeners Association will have their first meeting of the new year on Friday January 24.
A social evening is on the agenda with a cheese and wine buffet and competitions for added interest.
A speaker is not booked for this month as on so many occasions the meeting has had to be cancelled at short notice due to extreme weather conditions and members can enjoy a relaxed social get together as they look forward to the busy year ahead.
A range of speakers and topics are included in the new programme including, lawns, roses and a calendar of colour with a new addition at the September meeting where a plant swap is part of the evenings agenda.
The annual Mini Market is to be held on Saturday May 17.
It is always a popular event on the local calendar with a huge variety of plants for sale at very reasonable prices.
They are all propagated or sown and grown on by members and generously donated with the proceeds for Association funds.
The two annual shows are the highlight of the Gardeners Calendar.
This year the Spring Show is planned for Saturday April 12 and the Evening Show on Friday August 29.
Visitors are always welcome to attend the meetings and membership is just £5 for the year with no admission charge to the monthly indoor meetings which are held during the winter.
Sheila Minns who is chairman and treasurer will be happy to give more information and a reminder is given that it is time to renew membership - you can contact Sheila on 01673 858951.
Meanwhile in the village, the first meeting of the year for the East and West Barkwith Parish Council is to be held on Thursday January 16 in the village hall starting at 8pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
