Giant whale will be part of Mablethorpe art festival in September

A GIANT whale will be one of the main attractions at September’s Bathing Beauties Festival, it has been announced.
The hugely popular annual event of the arts will incorporate the whale where up to two people can be ‘swallowed whole’ to enjoy a three minute theatrical performance by an actor.
This year’s festival, stretching along the coast from Mablethorpe down to Sandilands, has been marked down for the weekend of September 14-16 and promises another great spectacle of music, dance, drama, arts, crafts and more.
Organisers are working hard to eclipse the success of past years where thousands of people have descended onto the coast for fun-packed weekends.
Town manager Karen Froggatt said: “This year’s festival is not to be missed as the promenade comes alive with music, street performers, dance, drama, arts and crafts and so much more.
“Each year the programme of entertainment, culture and activities gets better and better and this year will be no exception.
“Where else can you be swallowed whole by a whale but live to tell the tale? Well this year you can in Mablethorpe!”
Volunteers are being sought for both the committee, particularly those who have health and safety interests, and for helpers across the weekend.
Anyone interested can contact town manager Karen Froggatt on karen.froggatt@e-lindsey.gov.uk or on 07917 628171.
