A lady from Louth has received a special telegram from the Queen this week as she
celebrated her 105th birthday on Monday. Lily Watson was born on Wednesday January 6, 1909 .
She grew up in Goole and had nine siblings. At the age of nineteen she trained to be a nurse in London, before marrying her late husband Tom in 1936.
Following her husband’s death in 1999, Lily moved in with her daughter Elizabeth (right) and son-in-law Peter , where she lived for 14 years before moving into The Elms Care Home in Louth last summer. Lily has four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, including Leo (left).
Lily enjoys reading and listening to good music, and used to enjoy dancing in her younger years.
On turning 105, Lily said: “If it wasn’t for my legs, I wouldn’t really feel any different!
“I am well looked after and comfortable, so I haven’t got any complaints. The staff are good here at the Elms, and the food is good too”.
