Local campaign group East-Coast Homeless Outreach slept rough in Louth Market Place on Saturday night (May 3), in the run up to Global Awareness Day on May 5. The group raised awareness about the plight of the homeless, while raising £308 in the process.

Organiser Lizzie Morvinson said: “There were 20 of us there, and one guy joined us when he was passing around 2am and stayed until the end. The response from the younger generation of Louth was amazing, so a huge thank you goes to them.

“One gentleman has offered to donate food for the next six months after seeing us on Saturday, and there was a brilliant online response too.”

“The overall response was brilliant, considering a large majority of passers by were alcohol fuelled!”

“It was so much more than we expected, considering I only decided to do it last week.”
