The Labour candidate for next year’s General Election in Louth and Horncastle has issued a ‘come and get me’ plea to local club’s and organisations.

Matthew Brown, a serving councillor in North East Lincolnshire, said he wanted to meet as many people as possible in the next few weeks as he step up his campaign to end tory domination of the seat.

In a veiled attack on tory candidate Victoria Atkins, who lives in Gloucester, Coun Brown said: “I am not a ‘parachute candidate’ - I live in NE Lincolnshire but even so, I really want to know what concerns local people.

Coun Brown said: “I want to get to the ‘nitty gritty’ of politics - what they really think about the NHS, transport, new housing...everything.

“The best way of doing that is actually getting out and meeting people.

“This is an open invitation to all clubs and organisations in Louth and Horncastle. I’m happy to come and meet you face-to-face.”

Coun Brown said he had been overwhelmed by messages of support after securing the Labour party nomination.
