John Clark Ploughing day
HUGH Bourn Farms provided the hospitality for the annual John Clark Ploughing day this year in East Barkwith, arranged in his memory by his family in conjunction with his friends and fellow members of the Lincolnshire and Newark Vintage Ploughing Association.
John dedicated much of his time in retirement to restoring vintage tractors and engines and was a successful and enthusiastic competitor at shows and ploughing competitions and now a trophy, donated by his wife Grace Clark is awarded to the winner of the vintage trailed plough class. Competitors came from a wide area to take part and the winner was Ray Graham of Yorkshire and other class winners were vintage tractor with mounted plough Nick Morley Nottinghamshire; Classic class John Plowright Lincolnshire; Intermediate class B Milnes Yorkshire; Ferguson T20 John Kitchen Leicestershire; Horticultural Peter Lion Lincolnshire and Newstyle Don Woodhouse of Nottinghamshire. A demonstration was given by Dave Watling and his family with Hector showing how the land was ploughed in days gone by with one horse power and proceeds were for the Lindsey Blind Society.
