Year 6 pupils at Kidgate Primary Academy in Louth had the opportunity to learn about the business of newspapers and find out how news pages are put together.

The newspaper day was presented by the Lincoln School of Journalism at Lincoln University where lecturers, working journalists and third year students come along to the school, giving the pupils an insight into journalism and how a newspaper is put together.

The pages that the students put together will be made into a real life newspaper that will be printed and given to them so they can see the finished product.

Teacher at Kidgate Primary Academy, Katie Hall said: “All of the pupils from Year 6 learned about using Indesign software, shorthand, how to structure and set out a newspaper and interviewing techniques.

“The children were absolutely buzzing about the day and really enjoyed it and now they are looking forward to see the end product.”
