Former Trusthorpe woman Mary Blackburn BEM arranged a trip for Lancaster bomber aimer Frank Tolley BEM to return to Lincolnshire recently.

Mary, who now lives in Cheshire, established the Hobblers and Wobblers group and brought Frank, 92, president of the group back to the area. Frank was stationed at RAF Scampton and was a bomb aimer in the Avro Lancaster Squadron. Mary said: “It was great for myself and Frank to return to the local area which will always have a place in our hearts.”

The group visited The Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa, RAF Conningsby and had a Lincolnshire sausage supper at the Half Moon Hotel in Alford where they met members of the Lincolnshire Lancaster Association.
