Students at Monks’ Dyke Tennyson College in Louth and Mablethorpe have surpassed last year’s A-Level and BTEC results with nearly 100 per cent pass rates.

Principal, Dr Chris Rolph, said: “These superb results are testament to the hard work put in by the students, supported by their teachers.

“Overall 48 per cent of A-Level and BTEC grades were achieved at A*-B, these figures are outstanding and well above last year’s figure.”

Dr Rolph was particularly pleased as this will be his last set of A level results before he moves on to take up a new post in Grimsby in September.

Rachel Tickhill, chair of Governors, added: “The results are brilliant, we are all so proud of our students’ achievements and, on behalf of the Governors, I hope that their success can now allow them to move into the next stage of their education or employment.”

Head of Sixth Form, Carol Woosey, talked of the hard work involved in preparing students for exams and helping them to make the right decisions for future careers:

“It’s days like today that make it worthwhile—a few surprises but also a lot of students who’ve worked hard and got what they deserve,” she said.

Students with the highest point scores include Robyn Burton, Lee Gillham, Kirby Perkins and Drew Ramsey. Liam Frater, with grades A*A*A, was delighted to be able to confirm his place at Sheffield Hallam where he hopes to continue to play basketball at the highest level.

Becky Oliver was one of the few students who didn’t check her results on the UCAS website in the early hours of the morning: despite initial nerves she was thrilled to open her envelope which contained grades AAB.

Becky will be taking a gap year with VSO before heading off to university.
