St Margaret’s C of E Primary School in Withern are celebrating after receiving a letter of congratulations from the Minister for Schools.
MP David Laws has praised the primary school it’s ‘excellent performance in the similar schools measure in the 2012 Schools Performance Tables.’
These tables compare schools with those with near identical intakes, judged by their key stage 1 attainment.
The letter by MP David Laws said: ‘Your school stood out in two ways. ‘First, you were ranked number one in your table.
‘Second, over 20 per cent more of your pupils achieved a level 4 or above in English and maths than is typical of school with your take.’
It also said: ‘This is a fantastic achievement you should be very proud of.’
Headteacher James Siddle is delighted with the school’s recent success. He added: “We were very pleased to receive the letter.
“We are very proud of our pupils – they are simply brilliant.
“We are very pleased with their achievements and it was gratfying to receive this letter from central government acknowledging the outstanding progress the children have made here in Withern.”
