Lincolnshire Co-op donation to Louth and District Community Larder

Local people in need have been given a boost this Christmas thanks to the Lincolnshire Co-op.

They have given a generous £200 donation of food to the area’s community larder.

The Louth and District Community Larder supports people living in an area stretching from Louth to Mablethorpe.

Last year, the service issued 170 parcels of food and in 2012 volunteers have seen demand grow.

Church Community Worker Peta Hill said: “A normal parcel is worth about £25 and is designed for three people. We’re now seeing more demand from families who obviously need more food so donations like this one from Lincolnshire Co-op are very important.”

The £200 donation agreed by the Society’s Horncastle Member Group, which is made up of dividend card holders from across the area, was put together by the Lincolnshire Co-op Newbridge Hill Foodstore in Louth.

It includes more than 180 cans, including tinned peaches and vegetables, chopped tomatoes, stews and chilli con carne, 15 boxes of tea, 12 packs of pasta and 12 bags of rice.

Newbridge Hill Community Liasion Rep Storme Eddowes said: “We’re pleased that we’ve been able to help such a worthy cause in the run-up to Christmas. “Our members’ group, which is made up of dividend card holders from the area, gave this donation to the Louth and District Community Larder because they knew what important work it was doing in the community.”

Peta Hill met Storme Eddowes at the Newbridge Hill store to say thank you for the donation.
