Lloyds Bank in Mercer Row, Louth, has been collecting food items for the Community Larder since the beginning of February. A full trolley load has already been collected, and the second load is almost full too.
Manager Andrew Knight has decided to continue the collection until mid-March as a result of the success it’s had so far. Mr Knight said: “We like to do something for the community every month, so we will keep this one going for a couple more weeks and then start something new.
“The winter is a more difficult time than summer for many people. With things like extra heating bills, sometimes food can get cut out.”
The food donated to the Community Larder, which is based at the Trinity Centre, will be offered to struggling people who have been referred by statutory or voluntary organisations.
Customers and non-customers of Lloyds bank are invited to donate tins, jars, and packets of food in the Mercer Row branch.
