Louth boy set to tackle Snowdonia for baby Jacob

Zachary Wildey-Parks will be braving the challenge in Wales, with the main summit reaching a height of 3,560ft.

It’s a walk which a lot of adults find tough, but he will be taking it on all the same on July 26 and is hoping to raise as much money as he can for Leeds Children’s Hospital.

Zachary loves his mum, Sarah Wildey’s godson, Jacob McDonald who is one-years-old and lives in Sutton on Sea and they both love to play together.

Jacob was born with a common heart defeat, Tetralogy of Fallot, but despite this, there is still not a lot of awareness out there for the condition.

Ms Wildey, Zachary’s mum explained: “Jacob had to undergo a gruelling open heart surgery operation lasting six hours at just 11-weeks-old and was in intensive care on a ventilator for 18 hours and then discharged after six days.

“There still isn’t a lot of awareness about this condition, and the challenge Zachary is undertaking to promote more awareness and raise funds for Leeds Childrens Hospital, for me as a mum, makes me so proud of him.

“I was shocked and overwhelmed when he said he wanted to raise money for the hospital that saved Jacob.

“He is one amazing little boy who just wants to try and make a difference.”

“Zackary plays for Louth Old Boys Under 10 Team, so he already does a lot of running around.

“He is also now going on a lot of extra walks with his dad to help prepare Zachary for the challenge.”

Zachary explains in his own words why he wants to raise money for the children’s hospital.

He said: “I am wanting to raise money for the hospital that saved Jacob so they can help save other children’s lives.

“It will also be great to raise funds for them, so they help complete someone else’s family, like they did ours.”
