Louth businesses hoping to serve up the awards in food and drink gongs

Staff at Larders Coffee House in Louth are hoping for success in the East Midlands Food and Drink Awards 2012.

BUSINESSES in Louth are hoping to continue with Louth’s success as Britain’s Favourite Market Town by winning big in the East Midlands Food and Drink Awards 2012.

Four establishments in the town have been shortlisted in the awards. These are Larders Coffee House, The Priory Hotel, Kenwick Park Hotel and The Tipan.

Larders Coffee House in Little Butcher Lane prides itself on being a family run business with a friendly atmosphere alongside an extensive range of specialist coffees and food. Larders has been shortlisted for the following categories in this years awards; Best Tea Room/Café, Best Newcomer, Best Venue and Best Customer Service/Front of House.

The Bristow family have just celebrated their first year running the coffee house so are delighted to have been nominated for the awards

Co-owner Angie Bristow said: “We are over the moon about being shortlisted, we have only been in Louth for a year and it feels great to have been accepted into the town.

“We have a fantastic customer base and many regulars who have supported us throughout the year.”

The Priory Hotel has been nominated for Best Bar, Best Chef, Local Food Hero, Best Hotel Restaurant and Best Customer Service. Kenwick Park has been shortlisted for Best Hotel Restaurant and The Tipan for Best Oriental Restaurant.

It is now over to the public to decide the award winners.

Interim Charmin of the Louth Town Partnership, George Horton is delighted that businesses in Louth are being recognised for their achievements and would like to encourage everyone to take the time to place a vote.

“We have shown how well the Louth community and visitors can come together to crown Louth Britain’s Favourite Market Town, lets continue this success in the East Midlands Food and Drink Awards as all four businesses are worthy winners,” he said.

The deadline for the first round of voting is at midnight on Sunday, September 16.

All text votes must be sent to 61500 and contain the following information:

Best Bar text EMN BAR followed by the name of the bar.

Best Hotel Restaurant text EMN HOTRES and the name of the hotel.

Best Tea Room/Café text EMN TEA and the name of the café.

Best Customer Service/Front of House text EMN CARE and the name of the establishment.

Best Newcomer text EMN NEW and the name of the business.

Best Oriental Restaurant text EMN ORIENT and the name of the restaurant.

Local Food Hero text EMN HERO and the name of the food champion. Best Venue text EMN VENUE and the name of the venue. Best Chef text EMN CHEF and the name of the chef.

The overall winners will be announced at the grand final event at Greetham Valley Hotel on Sunday 28th October, hosted by celebrity chef Aldo Zilli.
