Louth butcher is named the best in Lincolnshire
Trevor Fairburn Butchers of Louth were named Lincolnshire Butcher of the Year.
One of Louth’s famous butchers is celebrating after being named as Lincolnshire’s Butcher of the Year for 2012!
Fairburn’s Butchers in Mercer Row has landed the prestigious crown as part of the biennial Lincolnshire Poacher food competition, while Jim Sutcliffe’s Meridian Meats in Eastgate picked up a well-earned class award for bacon.
A haul of six golds, four silvers and a bronze gave Fairburn’s the title on aggregate points awarded over 12 classes.
With a record entry for this year, butchers from all over the county put forward their best efforts for the judges.
Owner Trevor Fairburn was presented with the trophy at the Victorian Market on Sunday.
“We’re really pleased with the win, but a lot of hard work has gone into it,” he said.
“At this level the hard work and commitment put into achieving these awards pays off in so many ways. It is a tribute to my staff and to the support I get from Louth itself,” he said.
“It’s all on the judges’ tastes on a particular day so anything can happen. For our produce to be recognised is brilliant.”
