Colleagues at the Norwich & Peterborough (N&P) Building Society, on Mercer Row in Louth, are currently taking it in turns to try and accomplish the distance of the first stage of the Tour de France (190 kilometres) on an exercise bike in store in aid of Marie Curie.

The team began the challenge at 9am today (Friday June 27) and will continue until around 4pm.

Branch manager Claire Ravenscoft said: “We hope that our customers and passing members of the public will help us in our fundraising for Marie Curie.

“As Marie Curie is the official charity partner of the Tour de France 2014 Grand Départ, it made perfect sense to set ourselves a cycling challenge to celebrate the world’s largest annual sporting event visiting our country.”

The sponsored bike ride is in aid of ‘Hour of Need’ – the new fundraising campaign by the Society and Marie Curie Cancer Care to raise £500,000 by December 2016, which equates to funding an hour of care by a Marie Curie nurse for every hour of the campaign.

If you would like to sponsor the team in their challenge, either pop in to the N&P office in Mercer Row this afternoon, or visit www.justgiving.com/companyteams/YBSGroupStaticBikeChallenge2014
