We all know Louth County Hospital is the best - but now there is official proof after staff were nominated for awards by the public.

Staff at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) were recognised for their hard work and dedication at a special awards evening.

The Louth Theatres Team was shortlisted in the Extra Mile award category and the Urology Team at Louth were shortlisted for the Fantastic Customer Service award.

But the icing on the cake for Louth Hospital was Fotherby Ward winning the Quality Award.

They won for scoring 100 per cent in nearly all Family and Friends Tests, scoring 100 per cent nearly every month on the Safety Quality Dashboard, 97 per cent on the infection control audit and consistently scoring above 95 per cent in the cleanliness audit.

Over 160 members of staff, from a broad range of roles right across the trust, attended the first ever ULHT staff awards, which was hosted by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Melvyn Prior and sponsored by NL Managed Services.

Members of the public, patients and carers had been invited to nominate staff who they believe have shown dedication and commitment to providing high quality care.

Around 250 nominations were received in total, showcasing the enthusiasm and quality of care that is given to colleagues, as well as patients.

Chief Executive Jane Lewington said: “The evening was a great way to celebrate the achievements and successes of our staff who work tirelessly to ensure that the quality of care delivered across all our hospitals is the best that it can be.

“Listening to our winners talk about their work and hearing the dedication and pride in their voices was a humbling experience.

“Many congratulations to all of the winners and I look forward to celebrating the next years’ achievements.”

Nominations for the Staff Awards 2015 will open in Autumn 2014 and will be advertised across all hospital sites and on the Trust website.
