Louth lady Kath celebrates her big 100th birthday

Kath Wain celebrated her milestone 100th birthday on Saturday, August 2, at Stewton House care home in the town, where she is a resident.

She celebrated her birthday surrounded by her family, staff at Stewton House and her fellow residents.

Kath moved to Louth was she was young and her father was manager of the home and colonial grocery shop.

She left school at just 14 and was a apprentice dressmaker for Miss Davis in Upgate in Louth.

Kath, being the expert dressmaker that she was, Kath made her own wedding dress when she married Fred Wain (Bud).

She was also well known locally for her skills in dressmaking and made many wedding dresses for a number of local brides.

Kath has four children, Ann, David and the late Paul and Pauline.

She has three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Kath also enjoyed being part of the Keddington WI, which she was a member of for many years.
