Louth Mayor to dress up as a giant Lincolnshire sausage to welcome Olympic torch

THE MAYOR of Louth, Coun Jill Makinson-Sanders, will dress up as a giant sausage to welcome the Olympic torch to Louth!

It is part of the campaign to reverse the government’s decision not to support the Lincolnshire sausage having designated protective geographical indication.

The Mayor said: “It took me quite a long time to track down a costume but happily managed it eventually. I just hope it won’t be too hot that morning!

“We have the opportunity to tell the world that we have brilliant multi-award winning independent butchers in our ancient market town and that Lincolnshire sausages are very, very special.”

All the independent butchers in town have agreed to put on sausage tastings throughout the day and give special offers to shoppers too. They will all be inviting customers to sign the Lincolnshire sausage petition.
