Louth Mayor turns down offer of year’s supply of sausages after offal escapades reach national press

LOUTH Mayor Jill-Makinson Sanders has turned down the offer of a year’s supply of vegetarian sausages after her offal escapades saw her reach the national press last week.

Coun Makinson-Sanders dressed as a sausage as the Olympic Torch hit Louth to show her support for the bid to protect the Lincolnshire Sausage.

She received both praise and criticism from the public.

But PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) wrote to the Mayor offering her a year’s supply of vegetarian Lincolnshire sausages if she agreed to switch to a vegetarian diet in exchange.

The Mayor told the Leader she was very grateful for the offer but would rather the sausages went to the people who really needed them, and would be happy to accept them and pass them on to the homeless.

“It’s unfortunate that your attempt to draw attention to Louth’s meaty origins turned into a cock-up, rather than your intended mock-up,” said PETA.
