Louth motorists urged not to make it easy for car thieves

Motorists in Louth are being urged to take extra measures to minimise the risk of thefts from their cars.

Lincolnshire Police’s ‘Lock It, Don’t Leave It’ initiative aims to cut the number of reported car thefts in the run up to Christmas, a notorious period for such offences.

Motorists are being reminded to ensure they lock their cars and remove items of value from display.

Louth town centre beat manager, PC Rachel Dobson, said: “Since September, we’ve seen an increase in the number of thefts from vehicles across the town, where small items such as ipods, wallets and phones, have been stolen.

“Frequently, the cars have been insecure at the time, making it very easy for the thieves.

“With Christmas shopping soon beginning in earnest, it’s really important that everybody remembers to lock their vehicle doors and windows securely and to avoid leaving anything of value in sight.”
