A Louth singer and his band went down a storm after appearing on a television talent show.
Thomas Leak, known by his stage name Thomas J Redgrave, who is a former Monks Dyke College student and is now studying in London, appeared last night on ITV1’S Britain’s Got Talent, with his band mates Collabro.
The operatic group, who performed Stars from the musical Les Miserables, wowed the judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.
The 24–year–old and his bandmates received a standing ovation. David Walliams said: “It was a faultless performance guys, it was absolutely fantastic, it was not an obvious choice of song which is great because we hear the same songs over and over again, I think this could be really big.”
After the show Thomas tweeted: “Tonight was amazing. Look forward to some great things from us in the future.”
Thomas’ dad Barrie Leak told the Leader he was “very proud,” and his mum, Gabriella McCree said: “they are being followed by all sorts of people including Little Mix and Louis Walsh.”
The boys have proven so popular that they have already been installed as the early favourites for the series title.
Within minutes of their appearance on the show bookmakers Coral were already offering odds of 5-1 on them being crowned 2014 champions, while other bookies were offering odds as short as 11-2 on them winning.
That gave them a comfortable lead over second favourite, opera singer Lucy Kay, who is currently 8-1 to win.
